ESD is the general term for electrostatic protection commonly used internationally. Static electricity can be said to be everywhere in our daily life. We carry high static voltage on our bodies and around us. The harm of static electricity has an impact on all walks of life. For example, anti-static is very necessary in the industrial, medical and military fields. It is also a basic performance that electronic products need to pay attention to. ESD performance directly affects the electrical performance and even service life of electronic products.
Today we share some special attention to ESD protection when designing industrial capacitive touch screens. Recommended reference items:
1) The distance between the edge of the industrial capacitive touch screen FPC and the opening or gap of the casing is ≥3mm to avoid ESD directly discharging to the industrial capacitive touch screen FPC.
2) When designing the casing, it is recommended to use a grounded metal casing or a plastic casing without metal structural parts to provide ESD capabilities.
3) Some ICs can add ESD-proof TVS tubes and other devices, such as Focaltech, to provide ESD resistance .
4) In the design of industrial capacitive touch screen FPC, add the GND shield of the grid (add ground shielding film if necessary) to protect the I2C signal and prevent ESD interference from entering the motherboard.
5) Reduce the distance between VDD and GND to improve the ESD interference capability of radiation resistance.
6) Protect the capacitive screen ITO sensor with a surrounding ground to prevent ESD from directly interfering with the sensor.
7) Isolate the ground wire protection, separate the IC working power ground from the protective ground around the industrial capacitive touch screen FPC, and make full connections around the IC to prevent ESD from directly hitting the IC.
Both industrial touch screens and industrial displays can be designed with electrostatic protection in advance!
